Ingredients

  • 3 cups cake flour, sifted
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 12 tablespoons softened butter, diced
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 whole eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 cup whole fat buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon imitation vanilla

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Grease and flour 3 9-inch cake pans and then cover bottom with parchment paper.¬†Grease and flour the parchment paper.
  • Place flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in bowl of stand mixer and mix on low for one minute.
  • Add butter and oil to the flour mixture.
  • Add eggs and yolks, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add flour and milk alternately, starting and ending with flour. Stir in vanilla.
  • Pour into prepared cake pans and bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and springy to the touch.
