A delicious and easy sugar cookie recipe with simple icing that’s quick and easy to apply. And sprinkles, of course! Kids love these cookies.
Butter | Sugar | Brown Sugar Eggs | Flour | Baking Powder Vanilla Extract | Almond Extract ICING Powdered Sugar | Milk Almond or Vanilla Extract
Whisk the flour, salt, and baking powder and set aside. Cream butter, add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Mix in egg and egg yolk and the extracts.
Slowly add flour mixture, beating until just combined. Divide into equal portions, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least thirty minutes.
Roll dough to desired thickness, 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch. Place on a prepared baking sheet and bake for 9-11 minutes. Cookies should be lightly colored at the edges.
Stir milk and extract into powdered sugar until smooth. Add drops of gel food coloring, then paint icing on the cookies and finish off with sprinkles.
