This easy slutty brownies recipe starts with boxed mixes and store-bought cookies, but you’d never know it once they come out of the oven. There’s soft chocolate chip cookie dough on the bottom, a full layer of double-stuffed Oreos in the middle, and rich brownie batter poured over the top. They bake into thick, gooey bars with just the right mix of soft, crisp, and melty. It’s one of the easiest desserts you can throw together, and always the first to disappear.

Rows of chocolate brownies, some cut open to reveal layers of Oreo cookies and cookie dough inside.

If you want to make these slutty brownies even quicker, you can use refrigerated cookie dough and refrigerated brownie dough. You’ll sacrifice a little flavor, but kids are not likely to care too much.

For the best flavor, I like to make homemade chocolate chip cookie dough (from this award-winning recipe) and our easy cocoa brownie batter.

I don’t love the name of these brownies, so when I make them for my grandkids, I call them Oreo brownies. But folks know them as slutty brownies so I’m leaving that as the official name.

Testing results for slutty brownies

  1. We used boxed brownie mix and chocolate chip cookie dough mix for these slutty brownies. This saved time, and the result was delicious. We like the Duncan Hines Chewy Fudge Brownie Mix or the Ghirardelli brownie mix. For the chocolate chip cookie mix, we used Betty Crocker.
  2. We tested this recipe using regular Oreos and double-stuffed Oreos and found that the double-stuffed ones hold a little more texture than the regular ones. They still get soft enough to blend in, but you can tell there’s an extra layer.

Chocolate chip cookie dough mix: We used Betty Crocker. You can also use refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough or homemade.

Brownie mix: Our favorites are Duncan Hines and Ghirardelli. If you have time, make homemade brownie batter.

Double-stuffed Oreos: You can use regular, but our testers preferred the double-stuffed version.
