If we’re tailgating then you can bet I’m bringing along this pizza pasta salad. It’s one of the simplest recipes I have, yet everyone devours it! Teenagers especially love this dish, but adults are right there gobbling it up as well.
I love pizza pasta salad for tailgates and outdoor parties because it’s easy to transport and just about everyone likes some form of pasta salad. This one is one of our favorites—it’s easy to throw together with versatile ingredients that you can switch up depending on the tastes of the group you’re with. You might make a fancy version for girlfriends, with fresh spinach, goat cheese, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, and sundried tomatoes. So I’m not giving you an actual recipe here, just a conglomeration of different ideas and ingredients to come up with your own mix for Pizza Pasta Salad. Cook pasta according to package directions, then put it in a large bowl. Add pizza topping ingredients. I usually add mini turkey pepperoni, chopped red and green peppers, halved grape tomatoes, small mozzarella balls, chopped green onions and chopped fresh basil. Finish it off with good bottled Italian dressing and stir in some pesto if you have it.
That’s it! You could also throw in olives, hearts of palm, marinated mushrooms…really anything you would put on pizza. This Pizza Pasta Salad is super easy and everyone loves it!
