You can prep the Valentine’s Day Charcuterie Board the night before, with all of your berries and condiments washed and ready. Then use a large platter or beautiful board and just put it together in the morning–takes about 5 minutes and you’re done!

The beauty of charcuterie boards is that they are endlessly customizable and easy to put together.

Breakfast Charcuterie Board

A typical charcuterie board will feature meats and cheeses. In fact, the very definition of charcuterie comes from two French terms, “chair” which means “flesh,” and “cuit” which means “cooked.” It’s generally considered a way of displaying prepared meat products.

Nowadays, charcuterie boards can be anything from vegetarian to fruits to whatever you want. We opted for a lovely breakfast charcuterie board because it’s an easy way to offer a special Valentine’s treat for your family to start the day. Charcuterie boards are the perfect way to celebrate special occasions!

You can make homemade pancakes or waffles if you prefer, but I love the ease of using frozen mini-pancakes for this breakfast charcuterie board! Take a few and use a cookie cutter to make a heart shape.

How to make a Valentine’s charcuterie board

  1. Cook the pancakes according to directions.
  2. First arrange the pancakes in the center of a board, platter, or large serving plate. Add the macarons and/or any other breakfast pastries you’re using.
  3. Transfer the spread and syrup into small bowls or small serving jugs and place them on the board.
  4. Put the yogurt into a bowl and drizzle it with honey. Add the granola to a mason jar or bowl and place on the board.
  5. Finally, fill any empty spaces with fresh fruit.
  6. Pop a cork and share this delicious breakfast charcuterie with your Valentine!

Recipe notes

  • For a themed board such as Valentine’s, you might like to include items that are pink or red. Anything heart-shaped is also a winner! We made pancakes then used a cookie cutter to cut some of them into heart shapes. Likewise a small heart-shaped cookie cutter was used to make strawberry hearts from fresh strawberries.
  • When creating a Valentine’s charcuterie board plenty of variety is key.
  • Try to stick with finger foods, small candies, mini chocolate bars, or mini breakfast treats to ensure everything is easy to grab and eat.
  • Look out for ingredients with different texture and color and place them in groups on the board for a stunning visual effect.
  • The list of ingredients will give you ideas of the types of breakfast items you can include on your own Valentine’s breakfast board or brunch board. This would also work really well with something like waffles or bacon and eggs! You can include anything that you would enjoy for breakfast.
  • Serve alongside a glass of bubbly for an extra special touch.
