Whether it’s game day or a regular old Saturday, you’ll be making folks happy if you set out a tray of these Pulled Pork Nachos. We’ve layered these nachos with black beans (optional), plenty of pulled pork, Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheeses. Melt the cheese and then drizzle on some barbecue sauce and use whatever toppings your little heart desires.

Alright, I’ll tell you — we love some nachos around here. Whether it’s my Sheet Pan Nachos with ground beef or these pulled pork nachos, my family will inhale them as soon as I set them on the counter.

I like that nachos are so adaptable. You can make them as simple or as complicated as you want, and you can lay out toppings for people to doll up their own nachos however they like.

Testing results for pulled pork nachos

  1. We used my oven-pulled pork and my homemade barbecue sauce for this recipe, and pre-mixed the meat with the sauce before piling it on the chips. If you don’t want to make your own pulled pork, just grab some from your nearest barbecue joint.
  2. We tried using different cheeses and didn’t really like any except this combination of Monterey Jack and Cheddar.

Ingredient notes

Here are a few things to know about the ingredients in this recipe.

Tortilla chips: Use chips that are pretty hearty and not super thin. They need to be able to hold some weight!

Black beans: I like adding beans for some flavor and texture variety, but these are totally optional. If I were making nachos for my grandkids, I would probably omit the beans rather than listen to the whining about the beans.

Cooked pulled pork in barbecue sauce: You have options here. You can make your own, using this fabulous pulled pork recipe. Or, you can purchase from a barbecue restaurant. Or, and this is my least recommended option, you can purchase pre-made barbecue from the grocery store.
