These easy Snickers Brownies take everything you love about fudgy chocolate brownies and kick it up about ten notches with chunks of actual Snickers bars mixed right into the batter. We wanted MORE Snickers in our brownies, so we’ve got chunks in the batter and layered on top. And then we drizzle caramel over the whole thing. The candy bars get melty and gooey while baking, creating bursts of caramel, chocolate, and peanuts in every bite. What are you waiting for?!!

These brownies. OMG. Brownies are perfect. Snickers bars are perfect. But we thought, what if…and we blended these two perfect treats into one decadent, amazing concoction. You get caramel, nougat, nuts, and moist fudgy brownie IN EVERY BITE.

Testing results for Snickers brownies

  1. We tested this recipe with real Snickers bars, not any generic or imitation candy.
  2. We tested with a boxed brownie mix and homemade cocoa brownies. Of course, the homemade version is better, but in a pinch, you can use the mix. We usually grab Duncan Hines brownie mix.

Ingredient notes

Here are a few things to know about the ingredients in this recipe.

Unsalted butter: I like to control the salt in my recipes, so I always use unsalted butter. And if you’ve been reading this blog for any amount of time, you probably know that I reach for Land o’Lakes brand.

Semi-sweet chocolate: I like Ghirardelli or Baker’s baking chocolate.

Cocoa powder: We use Hershey’s regular cocoa powder.

Caramel sauce: While homemade caramel sauce is always preferred, Mrs. Richardson’s caramel sauce is a great substitute.

Give me all the brownies

Brownies are a favorite in our house, so we are all the time making different variations. In addition to these Snickers brownies, we’ve got these AMAZING turtle brownies, which may be the best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth.

For holidays, we make these Easter brownies and change them up depending on the occasion. And when we want to show off, we throw together Slutty Brownies with a boxed mix and a layer of Oreo cookies — they’re super easy to make, but they look so fancy. And don’t miss our Rocky Road Brownies, with all the flavors of the ice cream.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9-inch square baking pan with parchment paper. Set aside.
  • Add butter and chocolate to a large microwave safe mixing bowl. Microwave in 30 second increments, mixing well in between, until the butter and chocolate have melted.
1/2 cup butter, chopped, 4.5 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, broken into pieces
A glass bowl with chunks of butter and dark chocolate, next to a dish of eggs and a small plate of chocolate pieces on a marble countertop.
  • Add sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract to the chocolate mixture. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
1 cup granulated sugar, 3 large eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
A glass bowl with chocolate mixture, sugar, and three eggs sits on a marble counter beside cracked eggshells and a small bowl of chocolate pieces.
  • Add flour, cocoa powder and salt to the chocolate mixture and mix until just combined. Fold in 3/4 of the chopped Snickers.
3/4 cup all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup cocoa powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 4 full-sized Snickers bars, roughly chopped, divided
A bowl of brown powder and a bowl of eggs.
  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan. Top with the remaining chopped Snickers pieces.

A square pan lined with parchment paper filled with chocolate brownie batter and peanut butter chunks, next to a bowl of egg shells and a dish of dark chocolate pieces on a marble surface.
  • Bake the brownies for 35 minutes or until the edges have set and the center is still slightly soft. Allow to cool in the pan completely before removing and slicing.

  • Drizzle caramel sauce over the brownies before serving.
    1/4 cup caramel sauce (optional)
A batch of brownies cut into sixteen squares on parchment paper, with bowls of chocolate pieces and caramel sauce nearby on a marble surface.

Notes

  • For crinkly topped brownies, whisk the sugar and eggs into the chocolate until the sugar begins to dissolve.
  • The butter and sugar can be melted using the stovetop in place of using the microwave. Place the butter and sugar in a large heat safe mixing bowl. Place the mixing bowl over a saucepan of simmering water, ensuring the water does not come into contact with the base of the bowl. Stir until the butter and chocolate have melted.
  • Set the chocolate mixture aside to cool slightly for 5 minutes before continuing with the recipe.
  • The brownie batter is just combined when no streaks of white flour remain.
Increase the baking time slightly for firmer brownies, and reduce the baking time slightly for fudgier brownies.

Questions and tips

Storage

Store these brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Can I freeze Snickers brownies?

You can freeze the Snickers brownies. I would place them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet in the freezer until frozen. Then wrap each brownie individually in parchment or freezer paper and place in an airtight bag or container in the freezer. I would wait to drizzle the caramel sauce until ready to serve.

Can I use a different candy?

You can use a candy that’s similar in texture to a Snickers bar, such as Milky Way, Three Musketeers, KitKat, or Twix. You don’t want something so soft it will melt completely.
