Who says pizza has to be savory? This Brownie Pizza is a yummy dessert twist that’s works great for after school, birthday parties, or pretty much any occasion. ! We start with a brownie mix to keep things easy, and add a sweet cream cheese layer topped with sliced and whole berries. This one is a keeper because kids and adults love it!

Usually when I make brownies, I make homemade cocoa brownies. They are easy and so much better than a boxed mix. But — brownie mixes definitely have their place, like in this simple brownie pizza.

I make this pizza all the time for my grandkids because it’s so easy and it’s a great recipe to get kids helping in the kitchen. They can mix up the brownie pizza and the cream cheese topping, and the littlest ones can sprinkle the berries on top.

Testing results for brownie pizza

  1. I’ve actually tested this brownie pizza with homemade brownies and using a mix, and both work great. I find that the texture of the brownie mix is a little sturdier for toppings.
  2. This pizza is easily adaptable as far as toppings. You can use chocolate chips and sprinkles with no fruit, or mix it up and use fruit and chocolate or peanut butter chips.

Ingredient notes

Here are a few things to know about the ingredients in this recipe.

Brownie mix: I don’t have a preference on brand, but I usually reach for Ghirardelli or Betty Crocker.

Cream cheese: Use full-fat cream cheese, not whipped or low-fat. In a pinch you can just spread some Cool Whip over the brownie base.

How to make brownie pizza

  1. Mix the brownie batter and bake on a round pizza pan, a baking sheet, or a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Allow the baked brownie pizza to cool completely. While it’s cooling, make the cream cheese filling by mixing cream cheese with powdered sugar.
  3. Spread the cream cheese frosting over the cooled brownie pizza and top with berries, sliced fruit, sprinkles, or chocolate chips.
