This chocolate lasagna recipe with Oreos is cold, creamy, and layered with everything good. A thick Oreo crust on the bottom, silky chocolate pudding whipped with heavy cream in the middle, and plenty of crushed cookies and chocolate chips on top. Every bite is soft, rich, and a little bit messy in the best way. No-bake, quick and easy to throw together, and the kind of dessert you pull straight from the fridge with a fork when no one is looking.

A dessert in a white dish with layers of chocolate, cream, and cookie crumbs, topped with chocolate chips and crushed cookies; a portion has been served.

This used to be one of my favorite desserts when I was a kid. We called it chocolate delight, and it was always on the table at church suppers, along with blueberry delight, which I also loved. We’ve updated it a bit and added Oreo cookies for the crust as well as chocolate chips.

Testing results for chocolate lasagna

  • We tested this recipe with whole milk, which works perfectly. I do not suggest using low-fat milk as the pudding won’t set properly.
  • Adding heavy cream to the pudding mix gives it a richer texture, more like homemade pudding.

Ingredient notes

Here are a few things to know about the ingredients in this recipe.

Chocolate Oreos: We’ve tried generic cream-filled chocolate cookies and prefer the real deal.

Cream cheese: I only use Philadelphia brand cream cheese. Store-brand does not always have the same consistency or produce the same results in recipes. And for heaven’s sake, do not try to use low-fat cream cheese.

Frozen whipped topping: This one you could probably use generic, but I still prefer branded Cool Whip. Can you even call yourself Southern if you don’t have Cool Whip containers to put leftovers in?!!

Questions and tips

Storage

  • Store chocolate lasagna covered in the refrigerator for up to three days.
Can you freeze chocolate lasagna?

Yes, you can freeze chocolate lasagna. Wrap the dish in plastic wrap, then in foil, and freeze for up to three months. Thaw before serving.

Can you use different Oreos?

You can use different flavors of Oreos (like peanut butter or golden), but don’t use the double-stuffed ones as the extra cream filling will throw off the texture of the crust.
