Summer might be my favorite season because it’s a laid-back, lazy time when we get to hang by the pool, watch some fireworks, eat all the best grilled food, and indulge in our favorite summer treats.

I especially love July 4th, not just because of what it represents but also because it brings a little unity to our country. Everyone loves celebrating on July 4th!

We are always on the lookout for fun and festive treats that our grandkids will love, and this patriotic fruit kabobs recipe is a family favorite.

Why you’ll love this recipe

EASY – This is a really easy recipe that even young children can help with. They can thread the fruits onto the skewers and help place them on a platter. You can whip up the cream cheese dip in about five minutes! It does take a bit of time to get all the fruit on the skewers, but once you’re done, you’ll have a pretty and festive red, white, and blue presentation.

PRESENTATION – For just a little bit of effort, you can make a beautiful, patriotic platter of fruit kabobs. Add some sprinkles and flags, and whatever garnishes you like that will showcase July 4th.

VERSATILITY – You can change up the fruit for different occasions. For a baby shower, use watermelon and blueberries or just strawberries for a Christmas tray.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS – Serve your July 4th fruit kabobs alongside some traditional Independence Day dishes like Apple Pie, Blueberry Pie, Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Fried Chicken, zippy Jalapeno Pineapple Coleslaw, and hot dogs of course.

I hope you’ll make these July 4th fruit kabobs for your holiday party. I think you’ll love them!

Notes

  • I recommend making the fruit kabobs 30 minutes to one hour before serving to ensure the strawberries and blueberries stay as fresh as possible.

How to make 4th of July fruit kabobs

*Recipe Tip*

I recommend making the fruit kabobs 30 minutes to one hour before serving to ensure the strawberries and blueberries stay as fresh as possible

Step 1. Make the dip. In a medium bowl, add the cream cheese, confectioners sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract, and beat on medium speed with an electric hand mixer until the cream cheese is smooth and there are no lumps.

Gradually add the heavy whipping cream and continue beating on medium speed until well mixed. If you’d like a thinner dip, add more whipping cream. Cover and place in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Step 2. Make the fruit kabobs. In a medium mixing bowl, toss together the lemon juice and strawberries. (The lemon juice will help the strawberries keep their color and add some extra shine.)

A bowl of sliced strawberries is surrounded by a bowl of blueberries, a bowl of marshmallows, lemon slices, American-themed napkins, skewers, and a few scattered blueberries.

Spear the strawberries, blueberries, marshmallows, and angel food cake cubes alternately onto 24 (8-inch) kabob sticks to make a red, white, and blue pattern.

A skewer with a marshmallow, blueberry, and strawberry, beside a bowl of blueberries, additional skewers, and more marshmallows, strawberries, and blueberries on a white surface.
