My Salted Caramel Pretzel Cookies are so good they’ll make you want to slap yo’ Mama! We use unwrapped caramels along with chocolate chips and salty pretzels, so you get such a wonderful combination of flavors in every bite. These might be my new favorite cookies!

Y’all, I have been obsessed with salted caramel pretzel cookies ever since I had them at an event a few years ago. I’m sure you’ve seen the ones in the little green package. They are so delicious. I had to be able to make them at home, and I think we nailed it.

Testing results for salted caramel pretzel cookies

  1. We tested these cookies using caramel sauce, but it made the batter too runny, so we opted for the wrapped caramel pieces. They’re a bit of a pain to unwrap and chop, but they work perfectly in the recipe.
  2. I like the pretzel pieces fairly small, so I break them and chop any that are too big. That’s personal preference, so if you just break them up into pieces, they should be fine. Just get them however small you like.

I love to serve these cookies in my Christmas cookie box. They might not be traditional Christmas cookies, but they pair so well with other cookies, like my Thumbprint Cookies with Chocolate, Buttery Pecan Snowball Cookies, and Red Velvet Cake Cookies. These are all perfect for a dessert bridal or baby shower too!

Ingredient notes

Here are a few things to know about the ingredients in this recipe.

Butter: Use good-quality unsalted butter.

Chocolate Chips: I prefer Ghirardelli chips. They are of great quality and available at most grocery stores.

Caramels: Usually, these are individually wrapped.
