Testing results for BLT dip
- We found that for our taste preferences, just a pinch or even no added salt was needed. Similar to my homemade pimento cheese recipe, for which I don’t add salt, the ingredients have plenty of sodium, as do the dippers. But you do you, and if you want it saltier, then by all means, add more salt.
- We played around with the sour cream, mayonnaise, and cream cheese combination until we got it just right. This is a perfect and proportionate blend of all three.
I hope you make this recipe. I think you’ll love it!

Bacon: You’ll need to cook the bacon until it’s nice and crispy. It doesn’t matter what kind of bacon you use.
Cream cheese: Use a regular block of cream cheese, not low-fat or whipped cream cheese.
Lemon: Even though we are not using much lemon juice, it’s worth it to use a fresh lemon. You will not get the same flavor from bottled lemon juice. (I do not even own bottled lemon juice because it tastes so artificial and gross to me.)
Lettuce: Romaine or iceberg lettuce works great in this recipe. You want a lettuce that has a little crunch to it.
Tomatoes: We used Roma tomatoes because they’re a little sturdier to work with, but you can use whatever tomatoes you have or prefer. Chopped grape tomatoes would work well here.
