A roundup of Southern strawberry recipes for spring and summer, including cakes, pies, shortcake, jam, and easy desserts.

These Southern strawberry recipes cover most of what you’d make with a flat of fresh berries: cakes, cookies, pies, a cobbler, shortcakes, a trifle, mousse, and turnovers. There’s also a freezer jam to use up the extras and one salad for when you want something that isn’t dessert.
Florida’s season runs late November through April, and Georgia’s goes from April through June, so we’re lucky enough to have access to fresh strawberries for most of the year. I make a lot of strawberry recipes! Most of these use one flat or less, which is about what you’ll come home with from a single U-pick trip or farmers market visit. If you can find a U-pick farm nearby, your kids will love it!
