Are you tired of the same old chicken breasts and bland ground turkey? It’s time to inject some excitement into your weeknight meals with these Jalapeno Turkey Burgers. These flavorful patties offer a subtle kick of heat from fresh jalapenos and a flavor boost from sundried tomatoes. They’re simple to make and perfect for busy nights when you need something delicious on the table fast.

Fun fact: This jalapeno turkey burger recipe was the first recipe posted on this blog in September 2010. The pictures were horrible, and there was a lot of extraneous information, but it was my ambitious start!

The recipe hasn’t changed since then because it’s pretty close to perfect, just the way it is. We mix ground turkey breast and regular ground turkey, which helps keep the burgers moist.

What to serve with turkey burgers

I like a simple coleslaw with these turkey burgers: grab a bag of coleslaw mix, add some T. Marzetti’s coleslaw dressing, a little dill pickle juice, and a sprinkle of celery seeds. Stir that together and adjust the seasoning and dressing to taste. This makes a great, easy slaw!

If you want a more adventurous slaw, you can’t go wrong with my Pineapple Jalapeno Coleslaw. Throw in some oven roasted fries or sweet potato fries to round out the meal.

I hope you make these turkey burgers. I think you’ll love them!

Ingredients for jalapeno turkey burgers

  • Sundried tomatoes – you need good quality sundried tomatoes for this recipe. I like to keep a large jar in the fridge because they add flavor to so many things.
  • Extra virgin olive oil – use a good quality olive oil in this turkey burger recipe as the flavor will really stand out.
  • Ground turkey
  • Egg
  • Green onions
  • Fresh parsley
  • Garlic powder
  • Fresh jalapenos
  • Bread crumbs – just plain bread crumbs, not flavored
  • Italian seasoning

How to make juicy turkey burgers

I like to use a combination of ground turkey breast and regular ground turkey to get a little more fat mixed in, about a 50/50 ratio. If you want to keep them super lean, use all turkey breast; know that the burgers will be slightly more dry.

How to make jalapeno turkey burgers

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix gently.
  2. Form the jalapeno turkey burger mixture into about six or seven patties.
  3. Pan-fry the burgers in a non-stick grill pan or cast iron skillet. The center should read 165° on an instant-read thermometer.
